SMKRP ditubuhkan pada 1.1.1984 di atas tanah seluas 12.9 ekar terletak 8 km dari pekan Batang Berjuntai. Sekolah ini mempunyai 500 orang pelajar yang terdiri daripada 55% kaum India dan 45% kaum Melayu dan telah ditadbir oleh 6 orang Pengetua
